The Elementary Teacher Preparation Program prepares candidates for the critical thinking and decision-making that will be required of them as caring and reflective educators in K-6 classrooms. Candidates acquire knowledge and skills that enable them to meet the changing needs of elementary children and their families. Preparation for all candidates includes work in technology-rich environments with diverse student populations.

The Teacher Licensure Programs are the only undergraduate programs at Duke that result in a state license. North Carolina has reciprocity agreements with most states. Students who earn their NC teaching license also earn a Minor in Education.
