Katie Monroe has taught at Durham School of the Arts (DSA) for twelve years. She has taught biology, environmental science, earth science, and physical science. She has lead the Environmental Club at DSA, served on the School Improvement Team, chaired the Science Department, and lead science-based trips for students to Florida, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Belize. Before Ms. Monroe came to DSA, she worked for six years as the Program Developer and Owl and Hawk Trainer at the North Caroina Museum of Life and Science. This is Katie's second year mentoring with the Duke MAT program.

Awards & Accolades

Katie has presented many times at the North Carolina Science Teacher Association (NCSTA) conference and has attended the National Science Teacher Association (NSTA) conference. She, also, collaborates with research scientists at NC State and Duke.
