Major in Psychology, Minor in Education (Math Secondary Teacher Prep Program)

I'm from Smithfield, North Carolina majoring in Psychology and minoring in Education through completion of the Secondary Teacher Prep Program. As I'm hoping to be a high school math teacher upon graduation, I'm passionate about leveling the playing field for underprivileged students and hope to be the role model for future generations that my teachers were for me. I am a substitute teacher for Johnston County Public Schools and recently spent the summer as a teacher assistant and hall fellow at the North Carolina Governor's School. At Duke, I am a SPIRE Fellow and work for Conference and Events Services- be sure to say hello at the help desk at Wu! For fun, I love to play flute, watch movies, attend cycle and Pilates classes, and go on walks.

Favorite Class: My favorite class was Psych 101 with Drs. Bridgette Hard and Emma Grisham. Both professors had such wonderful personalities, the lectures were relatable and engaging, and the discussion sections were intimate and fun! We learned tons from a broad spectrum of fields within psychology, which helped solidify my subjects of interest for future study within the major.
