The ICSLTE seeks to raise the visibility of excellence in service-learning teacher education through the following awards.
Rahima Wade Award for Outstanding Contributions to Service-learning in Teacher Education in the United States
The ICSLTE recognizes outstanding contributions to service-learning in U.S. teachers through the Rahima Wade Award. Award winners are either individual faculty members from a teacher education program that prepares teacher candidates for teacher licensure in P-12 education OR an individual associated with promoting service-learning education in teacher education.
NOMINATION: Anyone can nominate an individual for consideration for this award or an individual may self-nominate. The nomination packet should include:
- A narrative not to exceed six pages.
- One to two letters of support.
- One document or published paper.

Outstanding Individual Educator Award – International
The ICSLTE recognizes outstanding contributions to service-learning for a teacher outside the United States. Award winners are individual faculty members from a teacher education program that prepares teacher candidates for teacher licensure in P-12 education OR an individual associated with promoting service learning education in teacher education.
NOMINATION: Anyone can nominate an individual for consideration for this award or an individual may self-nominate. The nomination packet should include:
- A narrative not to exceed six pages.
- One to two letters of support.
- One document or published paper.

Service-Learning Program Award – United States
The ICSLTE recognizes teacher education programs in the United States for excellence in service-learning program design and implementation. Award winning programs are accredited teacher education programs that prepare candidates for state licensure in elementary, secondary and/or special education.
NOMINATION: Anyone can nominate an individual for consideration for this award or an individual may self-nominate. The nomination packet should include:
- A narrative not to exceed six pages.
- One letter of support from K-12 partners demonstrating the existence of a successful K-12 Teacher Education Program Partnership.
- One letter of support from a Department Chair or College Dean.
- One course syllabus.

Service-Learning Program Award – International
The ICSLTE recognizes teacher education programs located outside the United States for excellence in service-learning program design and implementation. Award winning programs work with young people of any age prior to enrollment in a college or university.
NOMINATION: Anyone can nominate an individual for consideration for this award or an individual may self-nominate. The nomination packet should include:
- A narrative not to exceed six pages.
- One letter of support from a local school or community agency partner demonstrating the existence of a successful partnership with the teacher education program.
- One letter of support from a Department Chair or other University administrator.
- One course syllabus.
