  • Dorcas Gyekye named state finalist for NC Student Teacher of the Year
  • Dorcas Gyekye selected to participate in the Case Method Institute training with Harvard Professor David Moss
  • Alejandra Gómez received the William J. Griffith University Service Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Durham and Local Community from Duke University NC Campus Compact
  • Alejandra Gómez received the Community Impact Student Award from Duke University
  • Madeleine Sparrow received Duke's Cornerstone Award for demonstrating commitment to improving the lives of students, faculty, and staff at Duke and in the Durham community

  • Michele Saunders received the Virginia S. Wilson Excellence in Teaching Award from Duke University’s MAT Program
  • Alejandra Gómez received the Middle School Teacher of the Summer Award from Student U (Durham nonprofit)
  • Carter Zenke collaborated with Durham educators and the NC Department of Public Instruction to develop North Carolina’s elementary computer science curriculum
  • Mary Margaret Mills received National Board Certification

  • Brianna Tuscani received the Virginia S. Wilson Excellence in Teaching Award from Duke University’s MAT Program
  • Carter Zenke named the Tom Nechyba TeachHouse Innovation Fellow
  • In the year following her TeachHouse Fellowship, Ashley Pollard was named a 2018 - 2019 Pablo Eisenberg Interest Fellow at Georgetown University and concurrently worked on the Committee on Education at the Council of the District of Columbia
  • Savannah Windham received National Board Certification

 

2017 - 2018

  • Shannon Potter awarded Beginning Teacher of the Year at Jordan, selected as a district finalist for Durham Public Schools Beginning Teacher of the Year (High School Division), and named the 2017 Durham Public Schools Beginning Teacher of the Year (High School Division) 
  • Ashley Pollard awarded Beginning Teacher of the Year at Pearsontown Elementary School and selected as a district finalist for 2017 Durham Public Schools Beginning Teacher of the Year (Elementary School Division)
  • Mary Margaret Mills received the Hollyhock Fellowship from Stanford University, Gilder Lehrman Fellowship on Colonial American, and three National Endowment for Humanities Fellowships

2016 - 2017

  • Emily Stout completed teacher fellowships with the National Endowment for the Humanities, Colonial Williamsburg, George Washington’s Mount Vernon, the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, Atlantik-Bruecke, and the National WWII Museum
  • Savannah Windham received the Hollyhock Fellowship from Stanford University
