Global Connections: Collaborating with Schools and Communities Around the World

Nepal 2019

TeachHouse fellows visited Nepal in July 2019 on a two week cultural exchange with local non-profit Teach for Nepal. The collaboration consisted of school visits to local schools in Tulsipur, Dang; collaboration with TFN fellows to design and deliver professional development to Nepali teachers; and cultural visits to religious and cultural sites including Lumbini and Chitwan National Park.

 

Canada 2019

TeachHouse fellows visited Ottawa, Canada, in April 2019 on a one week cultural exchange focusing on creativity and innovation in the classroom. As part of the visit, the group partnered with Pino Buffone, current Director of Education of the Renfrew County School District, along with Peter Gamwell, an award-winning leader in education and author of the book The Wonder Wall, to observe local Renfrew and Algonquin First Nations schools, attend school board meetings, brainstorm greater possibilities for curiosity and imagination in the classroom, and visit cultural sights in Canada's National Capital Region.

 

Finland 2018

TeachHouse fellows visited Helsinki, Finland, in April 2018 on a 9-day cultural exchange to increase understanding of the world renowned Finnish Education system. Partnering with teacher-leaders and school administrators from the Central Connecticut State University Teacher Leader Program, participants visited classrooms ranging from Early Education, Primary and Secondary Education, and the Teacher Training School at the University of Helsinki, along with numerous cultural and historical sites.
